How Changing My Perspective and Attitude with Lucky Girl Syndrome Changed My Life
Share
Back then, I always thought to myself that whenever I applied for something or joined an opportunity, I would say, "If I don't get it, it's not for me, and other people may need it more than I do." I believed it was a healthy way to avoid disappointment. I had not been introduced to the Law of Attraction yet, and because of this mindset, I rarely achieved what I aimed for.
I was also very shy and anxious. Experiencing new things scared me because I feared I might embarrass myself. This fear held me back from trying new things. Growing up, I never had the confidence to put myself out there. I couldn't take compliments well—I always felt awkward receiving them. My overall mindset back then was that I was unworthy of success, afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone, and incapable of accepting recognition without discomfort.
Don't get me wrong—I was jolly at home and around my close friends, but when it came to meeting new people, I was incredibly shy. I also strongly believed in karma, which made me a consequentialist, always mindful of how my actions might affect others.
The Shift: Discovering the Law of Attraction
Then, I learned about the Law of Attraction. At first, adjusting to this new mindset wasn’t easy. But then, I discovered Goodwall—an app with a community of like-minded people who wanted to develop their skills, unlock opportunities, and socialize. Goodwall provides young people with access to educational and work-related opportunities, and it did just that for me.
Through Goodwall, I learned to talk in front of the camera, showcase my skills, and engage with people from around the world. I also became more aware of important topics such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and had the opportunity to pitch my entrepreneurial ideas, demonstrating my creativity, problem-solving, and communication skills. It all started when I joined their #Achievement Challenge. In my second year of college, COVID-19 happened, and we had to shift to online classes. I was anxious because I wanted to graduate with an edge over other applicants, and I knew I couldn't rely solely on my degree—I had to do something more.
Taking Action: Learning and Winning
I started enrolling in online courses across various e-learning platforms that offered free courses or financial aid. I explored different topics, from SEO to Web Development, and eventually found my passion in User Experience (UX) Design. Back then, I believed UX Design was the best fit for my career path, and now, I’m proud to say that I am working in my dream career.
I accumulated over 20 certificates, which I showcased in the challenge. To my surprise, I won! That recognition boosted my confidence—I was being acknowledged for my efforts. Through the challenges, I won more online courses, connected with amazing people, and even used my prize money to buy my first MacBook Air M1. As a student, purchasing my own laptop felt surreal, and it all happened because I took a chance on myself.
Expanding My Mindset: Manifestation and Readings
I also started engaging with zodiac readings on Instagram. At first, I wasn’t very interested, but seeing how some predictions resonated with my experiences shifted my perspective. Don't get me wrong—I don’t base my decisions solely on readings, but they serve as a guide and help me with manifestation.
TikTok became another tool in my journey. My For You Page (FYP) was filled with manifestation readings and affirmations, which influenced how I perceived myself. I even tried the “use this sound” trend and saved it as a draft in 2024. Then, in February, my life completely changed—I was given an opportunity to work as a freelancer, and the rest is history.
A New Me: Confident and Empowered
The girl who was once shy and anxious is now confident, empowered, and fearless. Whenever I see a microphone in public, I make sure to sing before going home. Last New Year, I even performed live in Bali! I am simply not the same person anymore—and that’s okay.
Believe in Your Worth
What I want to share through this blog is this: believe that you are worthy of abundance and all the things you desire. The universe will find a way to make it work for you. This is my entry for Lucky Girl Syndrome. Now, go ahead and affirm your luck and positivity—manifest your desired outcomes.
There’s nothing to lose, only to gain: confidence, opportunities, and, hopefully, your dreams as well.
